# Online Debriefing Host

With Tacview, online debriefings can be performed during which all participants open the same `ACMI` file and the debriefing host can control that `ACMI` file throughout the debriefing.

The host and the client(s) must open the same `ACMI` file in Tacview’s 3D view (or their respective `ACMI` files recorded from the same session). Tacview will not transfer any terrain, static objects or media files, so ensure that the clients have access to these files before beginning the debriefing.

To be a [client of an online debriefing](/tacview/features/tacview-standard/online-debriefing-client.md), Tacview Standard is required. To host an online debriefing, Tacview Advanced is required.

### Host Instructions

If you are planning on debriefing on Internet, make sure the online debriefing port (by default, `42673`) is properly redirected on your router. If you are debriefing over a LAN, make sure the port is open on your firewall.

Open `Recording` -> `Online Debriefing`

For a debriefing on Internet, let your clients know your [Public IP Address](https://icanhazip.com/).

For a debriefing on a LAN, let your clients know your Local IP Address (open a command prompt and type ipconfig to find it).

If an `IPv6` address is displayed in the dialogue box but you prefer to use your `IPv4` address, go ahead and share your `IPv4` with your clients and have them enter that on their end - the connections should be successful.

Click `Host` to launch an online debriefing session. Details will be displayed in the bottom left corner.

Click on participants to transer instructor privileges. The current instructor will be flagged `instructor` and a message will appear at the top of the screen.

The host or instructor may control time and cameras and may select objects, which will be reflected on everyone’s screens. Any objects that are created or deleted by the host or instructor will not be visible to other participant.

Hold down `SHIFT` to display a laser pointer which can be moved around with the mouse. Host and any client may `SHIFT`+`CLICK` on an object to highlight it for everyone.

To end the session, go to `Recording` → `Online Debriefing` and click the `End Session` button in the connection window. All clients will be disconnected, regardless of who has control.
